The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity."Lord Balfour

Function Keys (1-12)

You timid souls who are afraid to explore, I challenge you to examine the keys on the top row of the keyboard. Twelve of them are preceded by the letter F(Function). They perform a specific function whether using the Windows Desktop or a program. Try each one while in Windows Desktop. Not too much going on there but you will be delighted to discover how they simplify getting around a program: specifically, a word processing program. I promise you that you will not damage the computer if you try them, one at a time. The very first, F1, immediately brings up the Help Menu in Word Perfect. A perfect solution when a problem is encountered and you want a quick answer. In reality, the development of the Windows operating system simplified computing to a great degree. The function keys that were essential in DOS (disk operating system) were replaced by icons and windows and obviated the need to memorize so many DOS commands. In any case, the keys remain so try them out and eventually you might depend on those function keys which you discover are useful in your computing. Additional functions are brought about by using a modifier. To modify you hold down either the Control key, the Alternate key or the Shift key (or combinations) and a function key. I didn't want you beginners to computing to think the keys were merely decorations to balance the keyboard. So be brave!

The Web gurus realized, early, that they had to develop an efficient way to get around this wonderful source of information, activity and pleasure. Hence, the creation of the search engine. What does a search engine do? It does just what its name implies; it searches. Without the search engine, access to Web pages would be haphazard, totally frustrating and
